Lindsay high has plenty of pathways. They are all great. I chose to go under the Spanish pathway. This pathway involved taking all Spanish Language courses. At the beginning, I had some trouble speaking Spanish fluently. With the help of one of my best learning facilitators, Mr. Araque, I got better at it. Now that he has departed, Mrs. Cabrera has been perfecting my skills in the AP Spanish Language Course.

Job Reflective Narrative
Yesterday, I did my Job Shadow on Mrs. Cabrera from Washington Elementary here in Lindsay. Mrs. Cabrera was my 2nd grade teacher and I really liked her because she always helped the students learn and understand many school topics. I chose to job shadow her because I wanted to gain experience in teaching. When I was younger I wanted to become a teacher, so I saw this as an opportunity to get that experience on this job.
When I arrived to my job shadow appointment at Washington Elementary, I got a good feeling that it was going to be a great day. I got my visitor’s pass at the office and walked to the classroom. On my way to the classroom, I felt nostalgia walking around the familiar surroundings. I went inside the classroom and greeted my former teacher. Class was in session so I decided to get a chair and sit down to begin observing how the class was going. As the class was going on, I took out a paper and started to write down some of the observations. I saw how Mrs. Cabrera was explaining the work thoroughly and helping the students with the questions that they had. The children looked really focused and the feeling inside the classroom was very friendly. All the students were participating and trying their best.
Before class ended, something that would challenge me arose. There was a fire drill. During the fire drills, the students are guided outside the building and into a clear and safe zone far from any buildings. The fire alarm had begun and Mrs. Cabrera asked me to help her keep an eye out for the students, so that none would get lost through the campus. I did exactly what she told me to do and because of this, no students were left behind and no chaos broke out. After the drill was over, we went back to the classroom and got ready to leave.
During this job shadow experience, I learned many things about a job in this position. One of the many things that I learned was that you need a lot of patience to be with the students all day long. If you don’t have the patience, you won’t make it far in this business. Another thing that I noticed about becoming a teacher was that you need to be well educated in the first place. You must be able to speak clearly to the students and must not use any bad language. The use of foul language in school will not be tolerated.
There were some things that I really liked and others that didn’t quite end up liking. Something that I liked was that you had to educate your students and by doing this, you will educate yourself too. I also liked the way that the students look up to their teacher. This can boost confidence in any teacher, letting them know that they are doing their job correctly. Nonetheless, I liked that you are the key for their success in a big part. On the other hand, there was something that I wasn’t really a big fan of. One was the way that the new system is and how it works.
In conclusion, ever since I was a kid I wanted to become a teacher. After this job shadow, there is no exception about it. I am still very interested in this type of job, because I would like to see all students succeed in whatever they would like. Every single student has the ability to change the world for the better.
